Waste water

Waste-water with non-volatile compounds can be concentrated by evaporation. Waste handling application have volume reduction as main aim to minimise disposal costs. For SAKAB, the Swedish central waste handling station, all incoming liquid waste is concentrated in the evaporator in order to minimise the hazardous waste volumes to be incinerated.

Salt recovery

With forced Recirculation Evaporator, the concentration can be done as long as the mixture of crystals and liquid is pumpable. The salts are then crystallised by cooling and remaining free water is returned to the evaporator feed system.

A two-effect Forced Recirculation Evaporator system has been installed at Orchid Chemical Pharmaceutical

Ltd in India. Orchid Chemicals is a pharmaceutical company producing base drugs for global market. The plant is located on reclaimed land and is using the two-effect evaporator together with existing Ultra Filtration and Reversed Osmosis membrane plants, to handle all waste water and recycle the clean water. Concen-trated organic waste water is being incinerated and the flue gases scrubbed with water. The scrubber water

is again evaporated and the remaining salts crystallised. The salts are sold. This plant is helping Orchid Chemicals in keeping their position as leading eco-friendly company, confirmed several times by achieving awards as India's most eco-friendly and fastest growing pharma company.
