Bio-fuel and Bio-Energy

Our closed loop Exergy dryer is using superheated steam for drying of several products, for example bio-fuel such as wood chips, sawdust, peat and wood waste. Major advantage is the possibilities of energy recovery, for example integration with heat and power plant, distillation plant. The dryer is heated indirectly by medium pressure bleed from a steam turbine, hot water, thermal oil, or flue gas/hot air. Steam produced from drying system is used for electricity production in turbine and production of district heat.

Also the environmental effects are of high importance. All hazardous organic compounds evaporating from the wood product, such as terpenes and other VOCs, are collected and incinerated in the boiler.

Skellefteå Kraft AB is drying 50 t/h softwood sawdust before pelletising. The dryer is part of CHP plant. Recovered steam (80-90% of total energy) is used for production of electricity and district heat. No emission to the atmosphere.
